# Link in bio vs website for a beauty business: best practices (2026)

> Why a cosmetician or beauty clinic needs a website, not only a link in bio: what each does well, and 2026 best practices for both in Israel, from Instagram to ChatGPT.

Link in bio · 7 min read · updated 2026-10-06 · https://beauty.iw.pe/en/link-in-bio-vs-website-beauty-business

A beauty business in 2026 needs both, for different jobs. The link in bio is the door from Instagram: one tap to WhatsApp, a booking app or your site. The website is where a new client decides, and where Google and AI assistants such as ChatGPT find you when someone asks for a cosmetician in her town. Below is what each one does well, why the website matters, and the best practices for both, written for clinics in Israel.

## The short answer: both, with different jobs

Think of the link in bio as a doorway and the website as the room behind it. Followers who already know you need only the doorway: WhatsApp, a booking link, this month's prices. A client who has never heard of you arrives from Google, from a map or from an answer in ChatGPT, and she needs the room: what you do, for whom, what it costs, what results look like, where you are and how to book.

So the question is not which one to choose, but what the first link in your bio opens, and whether that page answers a stranger's questions without a message to you.

## What a link in bio does well, and where it stops

A link-in-bio page is a single page of buttons, and it is quick to set up. Instagram itself lets you add up to five links to your profile and reorder them, and a business account can show one action button, connected to a supported partner's service or a lead form.

- It works for followers who know what they want and only need the next step.
- It sends people somewhere else: WhatsApp, a booking app, a highlight, a picture of your prices.
- It holds little text, so search engines and assistants have little to read or quote.
- Treatments, prices and results often sit in stories and images rather than in text.

## Why a website, not only a link in bio, in 2026

Assistants answer local questions with web searches of their own: OpenAI says ChatGPT typically rewrites a question into one or more targeted searches. In WIPE's tracking, 'קוסמטיקאית מומלצת ברעננה' (a recommended cosmetician in Ra'anana) was searched as 'קוסמטיקאית רעננה המלצות' (cosmetician Ra'anana recommendations). Whatever it searches for, it finds pages that say those things in text.

On 6 October 2026 WIPE put 24 Hebrew questions about local businesses, cosmeticians and brow prices among them, to OpenAI's model with web search, located in Israel. The answers cited directories of local businesses far more than anything else. Not one cited an Instagram profile or a link-in-bio page. When a business's own website was cited, it was for something the site stated plainly, such as a cosmetician in Ashdod whose site says she works in Hebrew and Russian.

Google's guidance for its own AI features points the same way: nothing special is required, but important content should be available as text on a page Google can index.

## Best practices for the link in bio (2026)

Give your bio one job: getting the right person to the right next step.

- Put your website first, so a new client lands on the page that answers her questions. WhatsApp and your booking app can follow it.
- Label each link with what it opens, in clients' words: 'Treatments and prices', 'Book a facial', 'WhatsApp'.
- Use a WhatsApp link with a ready message. The click-to-chat format is wa.me followed by your number in international format (972 and the number without its first zero), and ?text= adds the message.
- Keep the same business name and phone number in your bio, on your site and on your Google profile.
- Check your links from your phone every few weeks; a broken one loses clients silently.

## Best practices for the beauty website (2026)

On a phone, in under a minute, it should answer what a new client would otherwise ask you:

- An opening line that says what you do, for whom and where, with a real photo of you, your clinic or your work.
- Each treatment with who it suits, what happens, how long it takes and, if you publish it, the price. In WIPE's check, price questions were answered from pages that list prices.
- Before-and-after photos with each client's consent, in the same light and from the same angle.
- Hours, address and a map, or the areas you travel to.
- One clear way to book: booking requests, a booking app, or WhatsApp with a ready message.
- Real reviews, with a link to your Google reviews.
- Hebrew, right to left in every element, and fast on a phone.
- Structured data that tells Google what you are. Google asks for the most specific LocalBusiness type, and schema.org lists BeautySalon, DaySpa, HairSalon and NailSalon among them.

## Beyond Instagram: Google and WIPE Around

A new client may meet you on a map before she sees your profile. Adding or claiming a Google Business Profile costs nothing, and Google says businesses with complete, accurate information are more likely to show up in local results. Link the profile to your website.

Directory pages matter too: in WIPE's check, assistants cited them more than any other source. WIPE Around is WIPE's directory of Israeli businesses, built to be read by search engines and AI assistants, with each business's treatments, prices, hours and a link to its own site. Claim and complete your page there, and use the same name, phone and address everywhere.

## How WIPE fits, and what it does not do

WIPE (beauty.iw.pe) builds a beauty clinic's website from its Instagram profile in minutes: treatments, your own photos, before-and-after results, hours, a WhatsApp button with a ready message, Google reviews, and booking requests by your real hours once you switch booking on. You edit it from your phone, and put its address first in your bio.

Building and editing are free, with no credit card. Publishing at yourname.iw.pe is ₪99 a month, the launch price of a ₪198 plan, kept while you stay subscribed. If no client came in your first week on the air, cancel within seven days of the first payment and it is refunded in full. What it does not do today: connect your own domain, take payments on the site, or send reminders automatically; they go out from the diary in one tap.

## Questions

**Is a link in bio enough for a beauty business in 2026?**
For followers who already know you, often yes. For new clients who find you through Google, a map or an assistant such as ChatGPT, no: a page of buttons gives them, and the search engines, little to read. Keep the link in bio and point its first link at a website.

**Why have a website instead of only a link in bio?**
A website answers a stranger's questions on one page: treatments, prices, results, hours, location and booking. It is also text that Google and assistants such as ChatGPT can match and quote, which a page of buttons is not. In WIPE's check of 24 Hebrew local questions, none of the answers cited an Instagram profile or a link-in-bio page.

**What should a cosmetician put in her Instagram links?**
Instagram allows up to five. Put your website first, then WhatsApp with a ready message, then your booking app if you use one, and label each link with what it opens.

**How much does a beauty website cost in Israel?**
From free builder plans that carry the builder's ads, to monthly plans, to a one-off studio fee plus hosting. WIPE is free to build and ₪99 a month to publish. Builders' and studios' published prices are collected at app.iw.pe/en/website-cost-small-business-israel.

**Can I keep my Linktree or Taplink page?**
Yes. You can keep it for followers and make the website its first button, or put the website straight into the bio. What matters is that a new client reaches a page that answers her questions in one tap.
